Dr. Ridd has successfully assembled the kind of dental team you have been looking for. Dr. Ridd describes his staff members as mature, professional, skilled, kind, compassionate and attentive. We all believe in the "old-school" values of honesty, integrity, and respect presented in the welcoming style of a bygone era.

When you come in for your appointment, our friendly, tight-knit team of professionals will see you right away. We will get to know you and become your friends. If you have questions, anyone on our team will provide knowledgeable, straightforward answers for you. We wont rush you through your appointment and we will never push frivolous or unnecessary services on you. Instead, we'll make sure you're well-informed and extremely comfortable throughout your visit.

John A. Ridd, D.M.D., M.A.G.D.

After graduating from Honesdale High School in 1977, Dr. Ridd entered Temple University. After graduated in 1981, he attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. He later attended Penn State University, then graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1989. He held a General Practice Residency through the University of Pennsylvania before starting his own practice in 1993.

Since then, Dr. Ridd continues to pursue the latest research and advances in dentistry. He earned the Fellowship Award in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) in 1997, for completing over 500 hours of full-accredited continuing dental education. He was later awarded the Mastership Award (MAGD), which is earned after completing an additional 600 hours of continuing dental education in 16 different specialties of dentistry, 400 of which are earned through hands-on training. This places Dr. Ridd in a select group (approximately one percent of all dentists in the United States and Canada have achieved this level of expertise). In addition to his membership with the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Ridd is also a member of the Eastern Dental Society. He attends a variety of conferences and actively participates in several area dental study clubs.

Dr. Ridd is also an original member of The Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry's PEAK IV program. PEAK IV is a continuing education study club comprised of progressive dentists across Pennsylvania and the Northeast U.S. working towards Mastership status in the Academy.

Outside of the office, Dr. Ridd is a member of the St. Vincent’s School Board. He is the director of St. Vincent’s School Chess Club. He is also an avid gardener, cook, cyclist, and golfer. He also volunteers his time with the Elk Mountain Ski Patrol.
